At MSVU Students' Union, we celebrate Pride 365 days a year!

We firmly believe in promoting inclusivity, acceptance, and support for all students at Mount Saint Vincent University. Halifax Pride Month offers us an opportunity to honour the progress made in 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and to continue advocating for equality and respect, showcasing our 365-day-a-year commitment.

From the moment Halifax Pride began, the MSVU campus became a beacon of inclusivity. We at the Students' Union worked tirelessly to ensure that LGBTQ+ students and allies felt welcome and embraced. We were proud to see rainbow flags adorned campus buildings, creating a visual representation of the community's commitment to celebrating diversity. Safe spaces are designated throughout our office area and across the campus, fostering an environment where everyone could feel free to express their authentic selves.

The pinnacle of Halifax Pride is undoubtedly the colorful and vibrant upcoming Pride Parade, where MSVU will make a memorable impact. MSVU students, staff and faculty proudly march through the city streets, spreading messages of inclusivity, solidarity, and 2SLGBTQIA+ pride. The MSVU presence in the parade exemplify the University's commitment to fostering an environment where all identities are celebrated, and we are excited to be a part of that.

Beyond the festivities, MSVU Students' Union team members continue their advocacy work for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through various initiative. For example, Jillian Mozvik, our president, was working as a research lead and developer on a free online program that walks trans and nonbinary people through the process of changing names and gender markers on legal documents. Carson Cameron, our Vice President of Advocacy, is the co-founder and Associate Director for Gender-Affirming Care Nova Scotia, a grassroots non-profit working to improve healthcare and health outcomes for members of the transgender, intersex, and gender-diverse community in Nova Scotia.

At MSVU Students' Union, we recognize that the work does not end with Pride week. We remain dedicated to creating lasting change and fostering an inclusive environment year-round. Ongoing initiatives such as mentorship programs, gender-inclusive facilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ awareness campaigns ensure that the 2SLGBTQIA+ community feels supported, valued, and heard.

We would also like to take this moment to remind everyone that MSVU Students Union is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all students. If anyone is facing any issues or needs support, our team is here to listen and help.

Let us come together to celebrate diversity, promote understanding, and create a more inclusive community. Together, we can make a difference.

Happy Halifax Pride Month!
