Fountain Play Center Operations Manager: A Rewarding Opportunity in Childcare Management 

Join the MSVUSU’s Fountain Play Center as an Operations Manager and contribute to an enriching environment for children aged 1 to 5 years. This part-time position, compensated with Nova Scotia Minimum Wage plus 16% ($17.63/hr), offers a unique chance to develop the booking schedules, manage finances, oversee the volunteers, and ensure compliance with policies and laws. 

As the Operations Manager, you will: 

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including booking schedule and annual budget. 

  • Oversee financial transactions, parent payment schedules, and create invoices. 

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to maintain high-quality service. 

  • Maintain child safety and occupational health records. 

  • Promote the Fountain Play Center among Mount students through campaigns and initiatives. 

  • Cooperate with Programming Manager on various duties. 

  • Attend service manager meetings and contribute to operational policy discussions 

Ideal candidates for this position must be MSVU students enrolled in at least 0.5 credits, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a childcare setting. You should possess excellent communication skills, proficiency in using software tools, and the ability to manage and supervise individuals in a fast-paced environment. A strong commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, and the values of the MSVUSU is essential. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinating with the volunteer’s management initiatives and ensuring high volunteer satisfaction. 

  • Reporting maintenance requests and ensuring timely resolution. 

  • Maintaining sufficient inventory levels and adhering to general maintenance, sanitation, and presentation standards. 

  • Creating service reports and assisting in implementing the strategic plan 

This role requires First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications, as well as passing enhanced criminal background, vulnerable sector, and child abuse registry checks. The Fountain Play Center is a noisy, fast-paced environment with physical demands such as stan ding and holding children. Mental and physical challenges are part of the job, but the rewards of providing quality care to children make it a fulfilling experience.
